Aluminium - Aluminum in Canada

1907 Alles begann an den Wasserfällen von Shawinigan. Hier entstand in nur sieben Monaten ein Aluminium Werk, gegründet von der Pittsbourgh Reduction Company, der Vorfahr von Alcoa - Aluminium Company of America 1928 wurde die Tochtergesellschaft ALCOA selbständig als Alcan - Aluminium Company of Canada, ein industrieller Stolz von Kanada. 1989 Die ideale Lage in Sept-Iles, der neue Hafen Pointe-Noire und die günstigen Energiekosten führten im September zur Gründung der Aluminerie Alouette, einer Aluminium Hütte (Aluminium Elektrolyse). Ein internationale Konsortium aus Austria Metall, Hoogovens -NL (heute Corus), Kobe u. Marubeni (Japan) sowie VAW -Deutschland (heute Norsk Hydro) zusammen mit der Finanzierungsgesellschaft SGF hatten schon früh erkannt ihre Wettbewerbsfähigkeit zu festigen. Heute sind es noch 5 Partner: Alcan- Kanada (40%), Austria Metall Österreich (20%), Norsk Hydro Norwegen, SGF (13,33%) und Marubeni Japan (6,67%).

^1)Alouette:Mit der Phase II "Erweiterung" Beginn Anfang 2003 Aluminerie Alouette wird die jährliche Produktion verdoppelt. Das Projekt wird 2005 abgeschlossen sein und damit entsteht das größte Aluminium Schmelzwerk in der westlichen Welt
